You can think about getting arrest records, conviction records, and sex offender records.

Two primary reasons are behind this phenomenon.; Both reasons suggest that this phenomenon arises out of legislation from 20 years ago that created the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and abolished parole.

First, prison sentences are longer so inmates are spending more time in federal prison.; For the past 20 years, anyone convicted of a federal crime was sentenced pursuant to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.; These were not guidelines in the traditional sense.; The Guidelines required federal judges to sentence defendants to terms within limited prescribed ranges.; The length of sentences was determined by factors such as the amount of money and number of victims involved in the crime.; For purposes of determining the length of a sentence, the perspective shifted away from the offender and onto the victims.;

Consistent with the shift away from rehabilitation and toward retribution, Congress repealed parole at the same time it enacted the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.; For the past 20 years, federal inmates have been sentenced to substantial terms without the possibility of parole.;

The One particular Thing to Know About Suing BP and Suing the Federal Government

Federal Employees Pay Raises and Getting Fat Off the People

By now everyone in the Lehigh Valley has probably read the article in USA Today about how federal government employees' salaries are skyrocketing through the roof.

What is really ridiculous is the puerile whining of federal employees bemoaning their plight and how they struggle with salaries well over the national median income, crying about how they deserve these raises, these bloated salaries. Your salary is paid by taxpayers. The private sector gets to decide what they want to pay its employees because it's their business. Viva La Capitalism! You, O government employee, are part of the public sector. If you want higher salaries, go into the private sector and compete, like everyone else. According to , "the growth in six-figure salaries has pushed the average federal worker's pay to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector". Nice try, but not nice enough. George W. was guiltier of these scandalous pay raises, recommending a total of 6.9% in pay raises.

Greer: I want to talk about government-imposed moratorium on drilling in deep waters. Drilling companies Transocean Inc. (NYSE: predecessor), Diamond Marine, Inc. (NYSE: do not), and Noble (NYSE: Near East) has declared force majeure may be against them. Claims against the government and things are much easier to defend a political gain from a legal standpoint. Hornbeck did not really have a property right that was taken away by the government. The government before allowing offshore drilling in deep water, and now they are not. This is a change in policy. I do not know if they will receive cash compensation, but may be required for the Obama administration did not follow proper procedures to change the management of government policies. If the government wants to put the new rules or regulations change, there is usually a large beautiful to go through.
